For The Spirit Of Prayer

O Lord,

Who has commanded us to pray without ceasing,
Give me the spirit of prayer that I may talk with Thee as one talks to a friend.

Keep me from vain repetitions and empty forms.

May my prayers be sincere.

Make me ashamed of my unthankfulness and sorry for my sins.

Give me more love for Thy Word and a greater longing for Thy companionship.

May it be the ambition of my life to be Thy true disciple.

Help me daily to wait on Thee in prayer.
